Dear _________,
I know that saying it more is not going to change anything but I am really sorry for what I have done. Even though my actions indicate otherwise, I really do care about you. You were nothing but supportive and nurturing, even after you found out what I have done. You trusted me and cared for me. And I messed up everything, made all the wrong decisions, and ended up hurting you deeply. And I am sorry for what I did, and everything else.
I disappointed you deeply and I really want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk to you after what I did; even though I did not say anything useful. I have a hard time with words, which is why I am attempting to write this letter. I understand that it must be really hard for you to talk to me, but I just hope that someday you can forgive me enough to let me be your friend. Someday you can trust me again. Your friendship and trust mean a lot to me. And I lost them when I had the opportunity. I just wish there was a way I could mend things. I have learned so much from you and your opinions matter to me. I do care about you and I will always be curious about your life and your whereabouts.
There were so many times I wanted to let you in. But instead, I pushed you away. You have no idea how ashamed and sorry I am for my poor judgement. I truly am. You were nothing but honest with me. And you deserve someone who is great and entirely honest with you. Someone who makes you happy all the time and who respects you for who you are. Someone who deserves your love and trust. You are a great girl and I am sure that you will find what you are looking for. I know it is not my place to say anything here, but please do not sell yourself short of what you deserve.
I know a great person like you will have a great life. And I know that I have blown my chance of being a part of it in the future, even as a friend. But I am really grateful for the opportunity you did give me. And I will be forever indebted to you. I just wish I had a way to atone for myself.
This letter probably sounds like a lot of "me, me, me, blah-blah", but what I am trying to say is that I really care about you and you will always mean a lot to me. I admire how you are the kind of person who cares about people even though they do not deserve it. How you are open-minded and are always ready to listen to the other side. How you taught so much to a naive boy like me.
Please understand that this letter is not a feeble attempt to get back with you. I do not deserve that. And I am not trying to drag this conversation any longer. This is just me apologizing without any hope or agenda. This is just me apologizing for a wrong I can never correct. Until I make the time machine that is.
Yours sincerely,
